Today’s real wedding took place at the stylish Essex wedding venue That Amazing Place, which is as fabulous as its name implies. Once a 15th century monastery, the building is now an exclusive-use venue for weddings, having been totally refurbished by its present owners. It was always going to be the venue of choice for Dani and Jay, who met at work three years ago, as Dani is great friends with the wedding organiser for That Amazing Place, Angie.
‘As soon as I was shown around I loved it,’ said Dani. ‘It was a beautiful, sunny day and the grounds looked stunning. I loved the idea of it being solely ours for the day, no other guests from other function rooms, just all of our friends and family together. Plus having your best mate to organise things always helps – and I know what a perfectionist she is!”
Dani and Jay chose a classic, neutral palette for their colour scheme, which sat beautifully with the venue’s calm, contemporary style.
Dani wore a body-fitting column dress with lace detailing and a fishtail hem, which showed off her hourglass figure perfectly. Jay looked awesome too, in a dapper cornflower-blue suit. Jay’s love of retro cars was evident on the day, with a collection (comprised of their own, as well as friends’) parked at the front of the venue.
Inside, the ceremony room was laid out with simple white swags of material across the back each chair, and a white aisle cloth scattered with rose petals for the couple to walk down.
That Amazing Place has a range of ceremony rooms depending on the size of your celebration, from cosy and intimate to a grander affair of 150 guests (there is also a wooden gazebo outside where you can say your vows).
After the ceremony Jay and Dani posed for photographs in the grounds – on the terrace outside the house, where the guests threw confetti, and by the lake with its romantic weeping willows.
Wedding breakfasts at the venue can be taken in the great hall, which can hold up to 80 guests for a seated meal, and also can be laid out in a variety of ways to suit the couple – from large round tables to a long ‘U’ shape made of rectangles. A range of caterers are recommended by the venue, all guaranteed to deliver first-class food for your big day.
Dancing and evening entertainment is all possible and can be arranged with help from the venue, or you can use your own suppliers. And not to forget the twelve bedrooms on offer that mean you and your nearest and dearest can party all night and not have to worry about how you’re going to get home. Oh, and did we mention the hot tub in the garden?!
Dani was unequivocal in her praise for That Amazing Place. She was particularly impressed with the care and attention that was given to her mother, a wheelchair user.
As That Amazing Place has listed status there are limits to how wheelchair-friendly certain areas can be, but the staff did everything they could to ensure the mother-of-the-bride had as wonderful a day as her daughter. ‘We would do it all over again in a heartbeat,’ Dani said, ‘and not change a single thing.’
