The stunning location of Cornish venue Pentillie Castle is hard to beat, especially on a sunny day in May. After a romantic ceremony in the venue’s quaint bathing hut, it was an afternoon tea reception for this couple of newlyweds. See the photos from the wedding day of Louise and Michael.
After meeting on the dating website Plenty of Fish, Louise and Michael had a 14 month long engagement, during which time they planned their perfect wedding day at Pentillie Castle near St Mellion.
Bride Louise tells all about the wedding day and why she chose Pentillie Castle. “We visited Pentillie Castle during a torrential downpour and still fell in love with it! We were in Cornwall and my Mum suggested taking a look at a place called ‘Pentillie Castle’ (she had seen an article in the local press). We fell in love with the main building and when we found out that you could get married in the bathing hut we just knew it was just what we were looking for. An intimate and beautiful venue with a lovely history behind it and set right on the water. The views cannot be beaten even in the rain. We didn’t look anywhere else we had made our mind up!”
“The theme was vintage with a handmade touch. I made a lot of items myself including the invitations, place cards, table numbers, favours etc. Making all the little things myself (with help from family and friends) was time consuming but well worth the effort. I wanted a mix of colours and went with champagne, cream and blush.”
Louise and Michael chose an afternoon tea reception to fit in with their vintage theme and the team at Pentillie cooked delicious coffee and walnut cakes, mini cupcakes (and no Cornish wedding day would be complete without) fresh scones with clotted cream and jam.
Louise’s favourite part of the day? “The ceremony in the bathing hut, it was everything we could have wished for. A beautiful location on the waterfront exchanging our vows in front of the people that are special to us. It was truly memorable.”
